Customer Reviews
Here are a selection of our customers review. We’ve also had some an online review by Mike Prince.
As amateur photographer and owner of all the books I can only remark how moving are the pictures that have been selected to be published in this volume. I do really enjoy the NLPA competition, it's inspiring and make a great service for the landscape photography community.
The NLPA has become the benchmark in landscape photography excellence, establishing itself in a few short years as probably the leading proponent of both photographic creativity and truth. Creativity, because what you find within the pages of each NLPA book is a showcase of unique vision by a diverse range of photographers from around the world; and truth, because what you see here is not over-processed, and not manipulated to the point of meaninglessness. Particularly welcome are the essays and descriptions by the contributing photographers, and the books are very much there to be read, not just looked at. Truly, books to savour.
An outstanding book featuring some of the finest nature and landscape photography. Books are still the best way to enjoy the work of other photographers and expand your vision, and this is an exceptional choice for both.
Such a stunning publication! From the beautiful cloth cover that perfectly accentuates Brent Clark's superb award-winning shot, to the carefully curated images and accompanying text - each page is a feast for the eyes. It's also a fascinating time-capsule for nature photography and the nature photographers who are at the forefront of this style of photography. We look forward to the arrival of the NLPA book each year, and each year we are delighted by the quality of the publication when it arrives. Thank you!
First and foremost I LOVE the competition and really believe it what it stands for, but the best part of it is the book! These books are full of so many beautiful, thought provoking and inspirational photos and it’s wonderful how it can bring awareness to photographers that otherwise no one would have heard of. I have many books that I leave out in my office and on my coffee table and these have received the most comments and started the most conversations.
I own vol 1-3 of the NLPA books and I must say these are the best books of photography that I have. These books are such an inspiration for my "poor" landscape photography. I learned already a lot going through these books. I really can recommend to buy them, if you are interested in natural landscape . Thanks a lot for these inspiring books
I love these books and cannot recommend them highly enough. There is so much to enjoy in every one. Who knew there were so many innovative, expert landscape photographers in the world? And all produced without having to resort to AI!
This series contains so much quality and originality that it must be of interest to any landscape photographer. Now that some are available on sale at discounted prices, they have become even more of a bargain. Even at full price, I think the books are good value, particularly given that the purchase helps fund such a worthwhile project, helping guarantee its continuation and the production of further volumes in the future.
These are fantastic books and are a wonderful source of inspiration for photographers. There is nothing better than losing yourself in one of these wonderful books for a few hours.
I was impressed with the content and print quality of this book, which managed to surpass the achievements of the first volume. What was even more impressive was the astonishing amount of work that went into creating the extended PDF edition included with the book.
Being inspired and learning from so much contemporary and advanced landscape art is a rare gift for landscape photographers and an important historical book that showcases the modern evolution of landscape photography
If you are interested in the natural landscape whatever form that takes then you will not get better example of immersive, atmospheric and thought provoking photography than the NLPA. The books are beautifully curated and exquisitely printed and are are worth every penny.
I love the books. Very nice image selection, all natural, no AI, no overdone photoshop compositions.
Two suggestions for improvement: Even though it's not really important, it would be interesting to see the technical shooting data next to the pictures. It would also be good if you didn't ship the books from the UK for the European market. The UK is not part of the EU and the recipient has to pay customs duties or, in the worst case, the books get stuck in customs.
Note from the NLPA Team: All of the technical data is included in the free extended PDF that you receive with each book. We have no other way to ship books to the Euro market since they are created in the UK. Thanks to Brexit, we have to follow the rules of the EU for import tariffs.
If you want to broaden your field of vision regarding contemporary landscape photography and if you want to deepen your understanding of what landscape photography can be, then you really need to get this entire collection of books. There is no better way to do so than by marveling at and studying the amazing photographs in these books while learning from their texts and essays.
Beautifully designed and printed on high quality paper. I highly recommend it to all photographers and nature lovers!
I own all of the NLPA books, volume 1-3, and pre-ordered the 4th. Out of maybe 75 photo books on my shelf, these are all amongst my favorites. They are awe-inspiring and a reminder how much opportunity there is in this world to make great photographs.
I can't recommend these books enough. Quality is outstanding and the photography is even better.
Nothing was held back when it came to the quality of this book. Everything about it is stunning. The photography is mind-blowing, it really makes you want to get out and see more of this beautiful planet.
My favorite part about this competition is its integrity. It's nice knowing that the images produced were made by real photographers and of real places.
If you are into nature/landscape photography, you won't regret buying NLPA books.
The book itself is quality - cover, binding and fine art prints (the images really pop while staying true to nature as per the ideology of the competition itself). The short passages on each of the images has more than your average place, camera, settings malarky. Instead there are comments on subject matter, composition, and the hooks that drew the judges into the images resulting in their inclusion within the book. However it is the images themselves are what brings me back to these books with photographs capturing places all over the world and in all sorts of conditions - the standard is very high indeed. Volumes 1-3 are quality as well and with each volume they are simply fine tuning and already quality product.
It is the second year I entered the competition and the first book I purchased.
The quality is amazing and full of comments and explanations which just motivate to be better every year!
If you want to see wonderful photos and progress, it has to be on your shelves!!!
If you love to see the photos in a book this is one of the best I’ve bought. I’have also the volume 1 and this have a little different format but the quality is out standing like the 1. I like to print my photo so I also like to have a book for look the photos of others photographers.
Last but not least the photo of the competition are “wow “ but real and not the result of hour of post production.
I hope that the competition have a long life.
The photography in this book is nothing short of outstanding. The presentation of the book has been meticulously curated. This is a book you will pick up again and again and again.
Please continue NLPA and producing books. It’s hard to say anything bad about the quality of the book and work within.
Exceptional photographs of great beauty!
Like books one - three, volume four contains a diverse collection of photographs that majestically capture the beauty of the planet we inhabit. If you like landscape photography you need to buy this book; it's that simple. An investment that will sooth your mind.
I will keep my review short; it surpasses the previous three volumes without shortchanging those as well. The bar has been slowly raised. Wonderful work in volume 4. For those who are not convinced, it is recommended to purchase it. You will certainly enjoy it and often take the book out of the closet or the shelf, to browse in it .
As a judge and curator for the 3rd annual Natural Landscape Photography Awards, I spent countless hours admiring these incredible photographs on a screen. But let me tell you—seeing them in print is a completely different experience. There’s something magical about holding a photo book in your hands, and the NLPA volumes are no exception.
The images leap off the pages in a way that a screen just can’t replicate. The depth, the detail, the texture—it all comes alive. Every page invites you to linger a little longer, to soak in the talent and vision behind each shot.
If you love photo books, this one needs to be in your collection. It’s not just a book; it’s an experience, and it’s one I’ll keep coming back to again and again. Highly recommend.
Recently listened to a talk by Tim Parkin which was amazingly inspiring and encouraging and he mentioned about setting up this competition. When the talk ended I bought this straight away and so glad I did. The photos are beautiful, so well shot and I enjoy reading the background to the photos and why they were taken. As a judge myself I try to immerse myself in the photo I'm looking at and trying to picture in my head it was taken.
I think now I will have to buy all the books in hardback!
Volume three arrived today, the book will be on the table more often than in the bookcase. I can tell the potential viewer and reader of volume 3, that the presentation and content exceed all expectations. If Volume 1 and 2 were already of a high quality, this book with its contents is another step up the ladder. Hence, I warmly recommend it to anyone who has a love for photo books in general and who is committed to landscape and nature photography. Good luck with volume 4 for photographers and judges to take another step up.
This is an exquisitely designed, elegant collection of fresh and deeply moving photography of our precious planet. It deserves a place on the shelf of all of us who collect photobooks.
The publication of “Natural Landscape Volume #2 is pure top quality in both printing and binding. It smells pleasant and I can only be brief about the content, all photos deserve a place of honor in this reference work. I hope that the organization and all the other people who helped will be present again at Volume #3. they deserve it.
Furthermore, I can only wish that this book is picked up by fellow photographers and others who have their heart in landscape and nature photography in general. From this place, a big thank you to Tim Parkin
The book itself is of a very high quality, very varied, and this book will be on the table more than on the bookshelf. The only complaint is that it took a very long time to arrive, it was worth the wait. It is a pity that my book is damaged in the foil, there is a large dent on the front. I can understand that for year 2 a different partner has been chosen to ship, it is a lot of work, done by Tim and his family. Looking forward to part 2 year 2022. (note from organisers - a replacement has been offered since this comment)
I have recently received my copy of this book and my initial impressions are that the quality and design are absolutely first class. The critiques of the photos and the insights from the contributing photographers are both insightful and informative. The images are superbly printed throughout the book. Highly recommended.
I just received my gorgeous copy after many many months of waiting and even forgetting that I had jumped in on the pre-sale. It is an incredible value for the excellent quality and exquisite images. I am so looking forward to Volume 2! Every landscape photographer should own a copy. Thank you to the production individuals and the judges. Marvelous work! It will become my "bible" for landscape photography.
The founders of the Natural Landscape Photography Awards set a very steep challenge for themselves - creating a new competition that celebrated eyewitness photography that relied upon a photographer's ability to capture the beauty inherent in the natural world rather than a talent for creating digital art through the use of Photoshop and other similar tools. The publication of "Natural Landscape Volume 1" is proof that the founders met that challenge. The photographs in the the book are simply stunning. The commentary in the book, both from the photographers themselves and the judges and organizers, provides a tremendous insight into the images. The quality of the printing and binding seems superior. The book will find a place on my bookshelf among my collection of fine art photography books, but not before I study it closely to learn all I can from it. Congratulations to the founders of the NLPA. I look forward to Volume 2.
This last year I began collecting fine art photography books so every time I receive a new one I can compare it and tell if it's as high quality as the others. I have to say this NLPA book is at the top of the list. The pages have a nice weight and feel to them and the image quality / color is outstanding. Considering how thick this book is, this is one of the best values you can get. You can really tell they took the time to make this book right and I look forward to diving into it more!
A highly commendable collection of some of the best nature photographs and photographers of the era! The quality of the binding and printing is excellent. Each page is like a fine art print. Even the darkest images show every bit of detail. No, I'm not affiliated in any way. I'm just excited to have my copy of one of the best collections of nature photographs ever published
